Fun Ideas for Recycling Bed Sheets

by Kristin Barlow 12 May 2025 0 Comments

Your bed sheets have finally worn out but what should you do with them?  Don't just toss them in the trash! There are plenty of fun and creative ways to recycle them and give them new life.  Here are some unique ideas to inspire you:

1. Kitty Boxes

Saint Sheetz premier packaging can double as a wonderful cozy kitty box for your cat! Cats are drawn to boxes because they provide a sense of security and comfort, allowing cats to hide, observe, and regulate their body temperature. They also offer a place for cats to relax and escape from stressful situations.  Make your cat happy!

2. DIY Cloth Napkins

Cut your old bed sheets into squares to create reusable cloth napkins. Not only will you reduce waste, but you'll also add a unique touch to your dining table. Plus, cloth napkins are more sustainable than disposable paper ones.

3. Upcycled Tote Bags

Turn your old bed sheets into stylish tote bags. Simply cut the fabric to the desired size, sew the edges, and add handles. These upcycled tote bags are perfect for grocery shopping or carrying your essentials on the go.

4. Quilt or Patchwork Blanket

If your bed sheets are still in good condition but you no longer use them, consider making a quilt or patchwork blanket. Cut the sheets into squares or strips and sew them together to create a cozy and sentimental blanket.

5. Pet Bedding

Your cute furry friends will appreciate a soft and comfortable bed made from your old bed sheets. Cut the fabric to fit your pet's bed or crate, and they'll have a cozy spot to rest and relax.

6. Cleaning Rags

Cut your old bed sheets into smaller pieces to use as cleaning rags around the house. They are perfect for dusting, wiping surfaces, or cleaning up spills. Reusing your sheets in this way is a sustainable alternative to disposable paper towels.

7. Plant Covers

Protect your plants from frost or harsh sunlight by using old bed sheets as plant covers. Simply drape the fabric over your plants to shield them from extreme weather conditions. This eco-friendly solution can help your plants thrive.

8. Halloween Costumes

Old white bed sheets make wonderful ghost costumes cutting eye holes or painting eyes on cut sheets to fit a child or adult.  Cutting old sheets into strips can be used in wrapping up a perfect mummy or zombie!

9. Furniture & Table Covers

Use your old bed sheets to make furniture covers for sofas or chairs or as a tablecloth.  Check out DIY YouTube channels for step-by-step instructions.

10. Ironing Board Covers

Bed sheets make functional ironing board covers.  Measure your ironing board, cut sheet to cover and allow for securing beneath ironing board and attach elastic casing around the edge and Walla!  A new ironing board cover!

With these creative ideas, you can give your old bed sheets a new purpose and contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle.  Get crafty and have fun recycling your bed sheets in innovative ways!

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
